It has been a week since my sweet baby boy was born and, just as with Riley, I am pleasantly surprised at how quickly my body seems to be bouncing back.
I gained 25 pounds with Riley (7 lbs 13 oz) and 28 with Emery (only 6 lbs 10 oz). From my weight gain alone I figured Emery would be bigger, but shouldn’t have thought that since I wasn’t able to be as active this time around (thanks, bed rest).
I don’t do measurements or anything, but do check my weight and try to analyze my body by how I feel and how my clothes fit. So, how am I doing?
WEIGHT: As of yesterday afternoon I am already down 20 of the added 28 pounds, so only 8 pounds away from my pre-baby weight! Yes, I do realize that is freakishly amazing and am very thankful. I attribute this to being fit before getting pregnant, continuing to work out during pregnancy, eating healthy (for the most part… let’s not forget those candy cravings!) and also, breastfeeding.
FIT & FEEL: I fit into the clothes i’ve tried on, despite some looking and feeling awkward in the chest area. Thanks to breastfeeding I am a tad top heavy! haha!
I am feeling pretty good. My c-section incision is healing quickly and looks much better this time around (I had a keloid scar from my birth of Riley- meaning the scar was raised and puffy in appearance). I am up and moving around with ease and not experiencing too much pain- just some cramping with most women feel (it is the uterus shrinking back down to size).
So… how do I look? I definitely still have a tiny baby pooch, but it’s only been a week since I HAD A BABY! This is totally expected and frankly, welcomed. I like looking down and seeing some signs of a remaining belly, it’s helping me part with the love of being pregnant, although I wasn’t that in love with it at the end of the pregnancy

This after photo is a bit rough, but as any new Mom will tell you, getting yourself together to take a pic of yourself is pretty low priority, hence why it’s taken me so long to get back to the blog! Not to place RKR as unimportant, it is (to me), but my 2 kids and work simply have to come first.
So that is where we are now. I’ll check back in a few weeks from now, as I don’t expect to see many changes in my body until i’m able to workout again (another 6 weeks or so, thanks to the c-section). I can’t wait to post an after baby workout plan and get back to sweating! Hope everyone is ready for another month of circuits! Join me… maybe?!

That’s pretty cool that you are posting photos of your afer so quickly. I hope to be brave like that as well. Good luck. You look so happy!
Thanks, Kristen! You’re so tiny and fit, so I am sure you’ll look great right after. Don’t hesitate to post- pregnancy is a beautiful thing and look at how great you looked after your first! You seem to have an incredible work ethic and I am sure you’ll be back to your pre-baby body very quickly. Embrace the whole process, sweet girl!
I’m really excited to hear how you will balance working out with family and mommy/wife duties!
ME TOO! ha!
You look AMAZING!!! Also, I’m glad to see a post from you this morning
Hello, about 37 weeks pregnant and I am looking to also post photos of the bye bye baby weight. Great to see how fast a woman’s body bounces back, especially with this being your 2nd! Congrats!
