This pic is from my very first race EVER, a half-marathon (bottom left- 1591- that’s me). I was training for the Detroit Marathon and my sister said, “There is a half marathon in East Lansing this weekend. Maybe you should come run it to get the feel of running with a bunch of people.” I thought, that’s a pretty good idea- so signed up. I LOVED IT!!! The half is definitely my favorite. I feel that I can run it somewhat competitively and not feel like death at the end
I remember a lot from this race, including being a mile from the finish and passing… ELVIS?!?! Haha!!!
I remember thinking, NO WAY am I going to let ELVIS beat me! Still cracks me up to think about! I ran it in 1:44, placing 8th in my age group, which I was pretty darn proud of for my first race.
I would definitely recommend this race to anyone. It was a great setup: Great scenery, lots of volunteers, lots of aid stations, lots of post-race snacks and just a very enjoyable race. The expo wasn’t bad either. Any expo with a free 20 minute massage station is right up my alley. Yes, I am massage obsessed :)
